01 to and 03???

so me and my dad both have crew cab short box psd his is an 03 with the 7.3 and mine is an 01 i have just decided to trade him because he no longer wants a diesel the thing is his truck has a few more extras that are kinda nice like a 3in lift bigger tires and a sweet looking hood. the thing is that mine will out run him all day long so i was just wondering what you guys thought about the situation was it a smart move or am i just going in circles
