should I do it?
So I got my hood popped up and was cleaning out my intake and saw that I still had that matting under the hood surpressing noise. Well I was thinking is it worth it to take it off so I can hear the turbo better? My dad doesn't have one and it whistles like a son of a gun but he's got a 6.0 so Idk if it'll be the same effect on the 7.3. Anyone done it and is it worth it?
Also, I'm surprised at the airraid for holding it's own and letting absolutely no dirt inside the tubes! I still might just do the tymar though just cause it's bigger. |

You can remove that insulation if you want.
As for the air filter. I would look at the air flow rating. See which filter moves more air but still filters the dirt out. The K&N moves alot of air but it does not do a good job at filtering dirt out. |

I just googled the cfm ratings for the quickfit and absolutely nothing came up! Even on airaid's site it doesn't give specifications except "it's a good product".
I'm really tempted to get rid of the insulation just to see if there's any difference what so ever. |

The only difference would be more engine noise being heard. The 6.0 whistles louder then the 7.3L. Not much you can really do, you can do the foil delete on the intake tube going to the intercooler off the turbo. That supposedly helps make the 7.3L turbo louder.

Alright, thanks for your advice! Maybe this weekend I'll get around to doing the foil delete and perhaps a muffler delete too.

be warned the foil delete is a pain in the arse that foil glue and residue does not come off easy
