Spedo question
So I posted on here awhile back about my spedo not working. After some research it looks like the panel on the actual cluster is bad. With that being said everywhere here in town I called looks like its going to be 5 to 7 days before they can have it fixed (they mail them off somewhere). For one are these clusters programmed to our specific trucks if I were to find one out of a junk yard? The 5 to 7 days will kill me as I use it for work also.
Also are these clusters fairly simple to pull out for me to take it up to them? is it just plug and play or a special way with the lines? Obviously they want more money to take it out. I would rather my truck sit in the heated shop for a week then outside in a random lot. Thanks I'm in Kansas City and they said there isn't anyone in town who can actually perform the work in house from a to z. |

here is what I gathered atleast for Mine and some earlier years after the GEM module was eliminated
the cluster is what stores the mileage I used to think it was the PCM but this is just like My last GM and is cluster dependent also the cluster has a lot of other functions so IDK if you might have any issues with lost functionality of external accessories ?? , I bet there is a service available and you can overnight it ? I would want to keep my mileage legit |

Yes I do want to keep my mileage as close to what it truly is. She said they might be able to change mileage. Also she said you can overnight it but it usually only saves a day or two and almost isn't worth it. She was going to see if they could find a replacement and get the correct mileage and everything ready and sell me that one so all I had to do was change it out and not have any down days. Waiting on a return call with that along with pricing either way. But probably looking at $300 ish.
