Exhaust temp mounting point??

First I want to say I am new to the site and very impressed. I have one question. I am mounting pillar gauges and wondering where I should put the exhaust temp sensor. Some say in the down pipe and some say that you can put it in the headers. I have a 7.3. What do you guys think? Thanks!!

personally my preferance is in the exhaust manifold pre turbo
