Variable 10K Mod

I have installed a home made 6 position switch which essentially is a 10k mod.

1. Stock
2. 5K
3. 10K
4. 15K
5. 20K
6. 30K

At higher resistance, the idle is rough but is great at high rpm's. My question is if I can damage anything by running these resistors. There is a good amount of new power becuase of the mod but is there a weak link or possibility of damage?
