early 99 cat

I read somewhere that the early 99 350s didnt have a cat.
ours was built in 12/98 but it has a cat. It does have a banks exhaust but they wouldnt have added cat would they?

My early 99 f-250 has a cat i would think they would be the same.Maybe a tech will no.

Mine is an early 99 F-350 and the exhaust was original and it (Had) a cat. I had the same problem as a lot of others on here. You know the cat and the muffler just fell off HA!!! Straight pipe fit right in there very well. Sounds great and the driver is very happy. Good luck.

Sorry to here about being in Cal. The falling off thing sure don't hurt the way they run. I done the Napa intake and with the (Well you know) it sure help with power and fuel mpg. Maybe you can lower it so they can't get under it to look. If they can't see it you could have the best of both worlds HA!!!

Why do you have to have it in Cali? They are not doing inspections yet.

My early99 F350 had a cat. Mine got scared of my Ausie and ran away from home back in 2000. Most everyone I know has put on a turbo back 4" exhaust and thrown the cat on a shelf in the garage for future installation at inspection time. Most of the banks systems are a cat-back system. Maybe they put in a 3.5" down pipe to the cat and then a cat back. You will have to look at what they did. I would at least gut the cat so it looks like it is there but it flows freely if not shelf it for now.

My plan is to put in a magnaflow 5" cat if it becomes required. But time will tell.

i dont know if it is true for diesels but in cali if your caught without a cat on a vehicle that is suppose to have one it is upto a $500 ticket...friend found that one out on his dually 454

My 01 250 didnt come with one...I think it depends on where they we made for...

Your buddie got popped because it is a gasser. I have had the cops crawl around under my truck plenty of times and they have never said anything. I took my truck to the scales three times to get my aux fuel tank inspected and they never said anything about the exhaust.
