The trucks runs fine I'm 8 hours from home and the overdrive light on the shifter is flashing. Anyone have any tips please?

The SES light is to the Engine, what the "Flashing OD light" is to the Transmission. It just means you may have stored codes that need to be retrieved from the trans.
Check the oil for quality/quantity, if it shifts OK and feels normal, I'd think you could wait 'till you get back... |

OVERDRIVE LIGHT FLASHING WHY
Just remember the dash ATF temperature indicator is basically a glorified idiot light which tells you AFTER its to late so at a minimum due as the previous post stated an put in fresh ATF.

The truck 11 months and 15000miles ago had a complete trans flush and fluid filter change by a very reliable transmission shop. I was told the trans was in great shape. I will deff check the fluid levels before driving home Monday. Any more insight?
