replacement mirror
O.K. I bought a mirror for the left hand side, (tow mirror, powered) to replace the one I broke (don't ask) off e-bay. Not a bad price cheaper than if it was new. Well, this one was new. Only problem with the mirror is that the connector was different from what the truck has. I did order it for my year catagory, but I am thinking that they sent the wrong year mirror. It fits, but it is now a manual. I went to find the connector and was very pissed at
for how they made this set-up. I have to say it is really mounted on the door that is for sure. took me a few to figure out how to get to two of nuts. Getting the door panel off to get to the connector THAT SHOULD JUST HANG INSIDE THE DOOR the connector is on the inside of the door and door panel. Not easy to remove either I think the engineers where drunk when they drew up the plans for this set-up. But again it is on there. This is when I found that the connector is different and that there are more wires than on the new mirror. . So how to connect the wiring to make the mirror work. I cut off the old mirror, so the wires are loose. there are two yellow wires and then the other colours. I can figure out some, but I am thinking that each wire controls each direction and not sure how the new mirror is configured any hints??

mirror replacement
Just got done putting my ebay mirrors on both sides of the truck. I also had the wrong clip to wire them. I had to cut the adapters off both new and old mirrors to make them work. The passenger mirror had 2 wires that were the same color so those 2 were tied together. The 2 wires that were different colors were then tied together. Drivers side none of the wires were the same, so it took a little longer. The wiring goes like this for the drivers side. Black goes to Yellow. Purple goes to Blue. Red goes to Green. I think the new mirrors were for a 99 and I have an 01. This is the web site on how to remove door panel.
Who cares?: Replacing the Ford F-250 Super Duty Side Mirrors. Hope this helps. The mirrors work fine aswell. |

I know when I changed my paddle mirrors out to tow, my girlfreind got them from ford and with them came a connector that you put between the two connectors to make them work. You might want to check with ford and see if they can sell you just that little connector

I don't like the intermediate connectors, just another connection to go bad. I would take a volt meter or test light and start hooking them up one by one, there aren't that many combinations!! You probably bought mirrors for a truck that has heated mirrors, if this isn't a option on your truck it won't have the same connector. Mirrors aren't something removed very often, so if you can't find the right connectors I would hard wire it with solder and shrink wrap and be done with it.
