just bought this 99 sd and wanted a few pointers. Truck has no gauges at present nor does it have a chip/programmer. My plans are to add both. My question...whats the best set up? Do i go with something like edge with the monitor and programmer in one or is a ts style chip and separate pillar gauges better? Thanks!

mine our 265 85 R16's stock. I'm not sure about gauges. Never had any. Or a chip. My first real truck. But with all I've read(alot now for six months) i'm gonna go with six position chip or f5 from dp but regardless with custom tunes not canned. Dp-tuner,.beans,.php,.tony wildman,. etc.

We have a unit that will work as your gauges and a programmer. It is called the Infinity, and you can check it out HERE. Along with tuning and monitoring(generic and Ford enhanced data), it will run diagnostic tests(KOEO, KOER, injector buzz, cylinder contribution, glow plug), datalog, read/clear DTC's, play media, etc...

Let me know if you have any questions about it.

And if you choose not to go a route like this, make sure to get gauges before tunes as stated above.

thanks fellas! Checked out the dp-tuner...awesome! Got several issues fixed on the truck tonight...(radio, overhead light, park lights, overhead console, and dim tail lights....all of it just neglected wiring issues). I still have a couple things that i'm not sure where to start with.
1. steering seems awful stiff compared to the other 99 i had.
2. trans seems to have weird shift points compared to my other 99 (could just be stock compared to tuned...other truck had a super chips on it)
3. tk has a 4 inch cat back exhaust and someone has remove the cat in favor of a piece of straight pipe. However, the rest of the pipe from there to the turbo is stock size. Do i need to add the 4inch down pipe back to where the converter would normally be?
