Starting truck that's been sitting

I'm going with a buddy to look at an 01 F250 with a 7.3. The guy says the truck hasn't been started in about a year and a half but ran great before it was parked. So what should we do before firing (or trying) to fire it up for the first time?

Mine sat for 2 years.

Batteries
Fuel Filter w/ fresh diesel poured into the bowl
Oil change w/ filter

I also wiped out the fuel bowl just to make sure there was no algae in it.

Took a minute to get rolling.... but fired right up.

About what I was expecting, thanks.

Oh I forgot.... is it outside?

If it is... pop the fuel cap and cycle the pump on and off a few times. You will smell a rancid lake water smell if it has algae in the tank from sitting.
