Stem in the middle of fuel filter?

I was watching a video on youtube where a guy removed the guts from that center stem of the fuel filter. Have any of you guys done this to your fuel bowl? He says is supposed to remove some of the flow restriction.

My understanding is that Mr. powerstrokehelp is not the highest regarded "expert" in his field.

Yes that is the guy, seems like a nice fellow. I'm aware this is the internet and everything you read and watch is 100% accurate.

Alot just "unplug" the connection. Reason being, when that "stem", which is your fuel heater, shorts out, it'll take out the fuse. Problem is, that same fuse, your pcm, fuel pump..etc is all on the same fuse...#30-30amp.

When i rebuilt my fuel bowl, i removed the heater element completely. But i also found that the stem your talking about was previously gutted.
