Burning Oil ?????

I run synthetic Rotella 5-40 in my 03 f-250 7.3l w/95k. My last oil change interval was 8k at which time Black Stone said I was good to go. In 8k miles I had to add 2 quarts of oil. I'm going to try to do 8k again this time. I'm right at 6k now and I just added my second quart. Does two quarts consumption in 8k said about right.

I was courious about that too. last summer i bought a 2000 Excursion. Changed oil to Amsoil, and at 8K had to add 3 qts. Thought that was a little much. have 90,000 mi now.

Not sure but 2 quarts doesn't sound excessive. I change mine at 5000 and I haven't used any oil up till this last time I fueled up I noticed I was about a quart down. I have about 1500 towing miles on this oil change and its about 200 miles from hitting 5000 so I will go through another oil change and keep and eye on it.

In the 7.3L manual Ford does mention that some oil consumption is normal. Two quarts sounds pretty normal to me.Certainly not excessive.

The harder I drive mine.. the more oil I will burn. At most, mine will use a quart at 5k. Normally, it's at the low end of full at 5k.
