It was driven by a female tax accountant before I got it. I would gladly take any advice.
I get 20+ on trips all the time. Hand calc, not the lie o meter.

No longer can I justify driving a truck all the time. At $3.50 a gallon for fuel, it cost more to drive to the store for milk then the milk costs. Whoops, thats new true anymore. Milks expensive too. My truck is very nice, but being a 2WD, it has no resale value. I have heard that the cummins and duramax get fuel economy, but thats what I thought about mine before I bought it.

Why you aren't getting better mileage is any body's guess, driving style, who knows. But please don't ask for advice and then question what is provided as it seems you did in this post.

The members here prolific in their help and keep the exaggeration's to a minimum. The advice given on this website is well founded in personal experiences, proven technology, and good ol' American ingenuity.

Exactly.

You are new here. I'd spend a few weeks just reading. You'll be amazed what the truck can do.

What gearing do you have in the rear end? When was the last time your fuel filter was changed? those will play a huge factor in fuel economy

My truck got 16mpg on the hwy at 68 mph towing a 2,000lb trailer... 2 big guys and some luggage as well. This is on winter blend fuel and ultra low sulphur diesel.

We'll see how it does on the way back with another person, a few dressers, and a car loaded on it.

I have never seen 20 MPG or anything over 16 for that matter, but i'm driving around in a tank. It's just the price i pay for driving what i like.

If you were to try disabling half of the cylinders on your PSD, you would have bells and buzzers going off everywhere, unless you spent some time re-engineering the CPU. The cost of doing what you are talking about would far outweigh the simple mods it would take to get you in the higher teens. Just look around here, and you will find several options that could help.

I know honda civics get around 1,000 miles a gallon, and the cost about the price of a full up of our trucks, maybe you should look into those? I get 11mpg all the time, I love the truck is what I expected I would drive it if it go 1mpg,, its the cost of driving a guzzeler. I lost a injector once, and my truck ran like it had a monkey cramed in its tailpipe, and that was 7 cyl, i can only imagine it getting worse with the more you take off.
