Remove the cat as well (if you have one), it is almost as affective as 4" exhaust at your HP level.

Hey I love power like the next guy. I also love the diesel smoke. What makes my truck different? What needs to be fixed. I drove 500 miles round trip at 60 mph last spring when it was 50 degreess outside. This was non stop highway driving. I got 16 mpg.

I may be off a bit, but those that think realistically that your going to get great mileage with a 7000+lb truck with aerodynamics like a barn are crazy...it aint gonna happen. Sure I can go get 25mpg; coasting downhill. Anybody getting 20+ is cruise set about 65 maybe a little more and thats steading driving on an interstate. I dont for a second believe the guys that say they have ____ hp and get 20+ in mixed driving. The odds of that are very slim. Want good mileage? Go get a car with better aero and keep your foot out of it...not pointing fingers, just my opinion

I dont have a cat. I understand the low sulpher fuel also took off 2 miles per gallon. I dont mind spending money if that would fix the problem. I have never had a check engine light and my programmer does not show any codes. I have the 3.73 gears.

I did the DIY intake, straigt piped the stock exhaust, and still only get 13 highway, 11 day-to-day driving... DRW 4x4 auto work truck, the van is worse, 10 to 11 is it's best, though it never sees anything but intown driving.

I'd take your 16 MPG anyday...

I know a local guy, his F-250 SRW truck is lighter, geared higher, (3.73's) and has a 6sp stick, he can get 20 MPG stock, but my guess is cause he can lug it in a higher gear, not wound out like my auto truck... he can spend more time with the motor at a lower RPM, and thus less fuel is used, better MPG... for max fuel econo, I would want a stick shift...

I average 12 mpg in the summer mixed driving and under 10 in the winter. It has 140,000 miles and has never worked a day in its life. It is a 2wd. I bought it with 125,000 miles. It was driven by a female tax accountant before I got it. I would gladly take any advice.
I get right at 20 (19.8) on the highway when I keep my RPM's between 1950 - 2000. That is without a programmer, it does have an open air element and an open exhaust. In the city I obviously do well under this (12 - 15mpg).

Why you aren't getting better mileage is any body's guess, driving style, who knows. But please don't ask for advice and then question what is provided as it seems you did in this post.

The members here prolific in their help and keep the exaggeration's to a minimum. The advice given on this website is well founded in personal experiences, proven technology, and good ol' American ingenuity.
