Wastegate mod?

Noticed this in the turbo manual... what is the deal here?
I guess I understand the principle what I'm wondering is does it work?

ive got my actuator completely removed and plugged on the IC bolt.....

I have one laying around here somewhere. I ran it for some time. I picked up a few PSI with it.

So is it as straight forward as it seems, a small brass tubing with a whole in it?

Yep. I have made them myself for other guys trucks. As the PCM directs air to the wastegate to push it open, the hole keeps the pressure down since it bleeds off through the hole.

Not bad, just make sure you put someting in the hose to plug it.

What is the real benefit of this mod? Is there more to it than just a few psi?
Is this a safe mod for motor longentivity? thanx
