Key programming?

Bought a 7.3l Excursion, and it came with 1 key and fob. I read somewhere its possible to DIY program new keys, but someone also told me that inorder to DIY program, you have to have 2 working keys already...

Anyone with experience on this matter?

For they fob, yes. It's in the owners manual. Something like turning the key 8 times then hitting lock on all fobs... Now your key and that special excursion program (PATS ). That might be in the book also. I hope you still have the owners manual or this was just a big waste

correct! if you only have one key, you have to go to the dealer. with the fob, all you need to do is turn the key on and off 8 times in ten seconds, leaving it on the 8th time. the locks will cycle once to indicate programming mode. then press a/any button on all remotes you want to program within I think it is 20 seconds of the start of programming.
