Need help on choosing truck.

I am in the market for an f250 or f350 diesel. I currently own an 03 GMC 3500 duramax crew cab & don't like the gas mileage under haul (6 mpg), not to mention the lack of power with the LB7 engine. I have been doing quite a bit of research on this site & talked to others who have Fords & have come to a conclusion that this might be what I am looking for. It looks like the 7.3L engine in 99.5-03 is the way to go & is a good engine, so I am looking for something a little older. I don't do a lot of hauling, but every once in a while I will haul a load of hay (6 tons). Can anybody help me out with some recommendations/insights of what they think the best year was & any other information would be helpful. thanks

Your LB7 has more power by a long shot then a 7.3. If your only getting 6mpg with a duramax you probably aren't going to get much better with a Ford. What kind of mileage are you getting with out a load? How much does your trailer weigh? I got a 2000 F250 I'll trade you.
