need some info on single to drw conversion on a 2000 f350

I have a 2000 f350 7.3 powerstroke that is a single rear wheel truck and I am thinking about converting it to a drw. I was wondering if anyone on here has done this? I know the bed would be different but I will be installing a flat bed anyway. What would need to be done to the rear end? What about the brakes?

Have you tried to search it. I have been thinking of doing this to my f250, but haven't started to look yet. If you find anything let me know. I probably am going to search this tonight.

My truck is a 2000 f350 6 speed srw extcab xlt with 112000 miles on it. bone stock no mods. It is dark green with tan interior. I thought about selling the truck and buying a drw truck but I haven't come across any in my area that were 7.3 in as good of shape or as low of mileage that mine is. I already owned a 6.0 and don't want to make that mistake again.

these folks has a kit for a complete dually set up..all 4 adapters with 6 wheels and the fenders....the beds are all the same..if you look at a factory built dually you will see the fenders are bolted on..so all you need is the fenders..this kit will not raise the GVW of your truck..it just stabilize the load more.. i was going to do this..but other things came up..last i looked about a year ago..it was $1499 for the complete kit..

Wheel adaptors on the rear offsets the load on the wheel bearings and could cause premature bearing failure. The factory dually pick-ups have longer axle housings, thus moving the bearings out and making the differential wider so the inner wheels will fit in the stock wheel wells on the bed. You might find a factory dually rear diff and swap yours out.

I am with you on this one. I would rather stay away from using adapters if possible. I have even heard some horror stories about people that put the 18 wheeler alcoa wheels on their dullies and having problems when hauling heavy loads.

Go to the junkyard and look for a wrecked dually that has no damage to the rear axle.

you can just swap the rear from a donor truck..it will bolt right in..most of the of the dually trucks are 410 gears..but there is some that have 373's...
