oh boy need some help

just got done installing my valve body and it shifts firm and great but the dang thing wont stop leaking. I think I put too much fluid in there so i drained some of it out, it seems low on the dip stick but it is still leaking from the pan gasket. I used the new gasket I got in my kit with my filter but I dont like those kind of gaskets and I shouldnt have used it but anyway my question is should I try and use my old gasket, it looks good and the pan has it stamped on there that it is a reuasable gasket. the tranny holds like 17 quarts right, I drained the torque converter, valve body and pan and put back in 17 quarts and probablly drained 2 quarts back out, so that leads me to think it is the gasket, what do you think?

Also what does the torque converter sound like when it is bad, when I first filled the tranny back up, and started the truck it was loud but seemed to quit down after it ran for a while but it still seems loud to me...you cant hear it when you are standing in front of the truck but if you crawl under it, wow it is louder than all get out, is this normal>? It seems like it has always been loud when I was under the truck with it running never really payed any attention to it though because I figured well its a diesel...Opinion or suggestions please help, I need it........

What kind of gasket did you put on the truck. If it is a cork gasket you may have over tightened the pan bolts causing a rip or split in the pan gasket. This would cause your leak. Go to a parts store and get a new formed rubber gasket like the factory one.

If the gasket is a reusable rubber gasket, you should have used the reusable gasket.

When my TC sounded like that it died very soon there after.

Just my $.02 worth.
