diff fluid

I'll be putting my truetrac in a week or so from now it requires no friction modifier since it has no clutches... can I use regular 80W90 gear oil in the sterling 10.50 with the Detroit or do I need to use the 75/140 or what ever ford recommends

Why try to save a few bucks on only a few quarts of oil? You only change it once every 10 to 15 engine oil changes and it only takes a few quarts. Go with the Synthetic that is supposed to be in there.

It has nothing to do with trying to save a few $$ at all..

I will be doing this job at my work so I can use the hoist/lift and not have to work on my back installing the detroit and setting it up..

The reason I was wondering is I have 80w90 gear oil in 45 gallon drums at the shop (in pneumatic dispensers) and if it was ok to use I would fill it up with that rather then go get 4 individual quarts and put them in with a funnel/hose...

Our shop buys all our oil bulk...

I will go get 4 quarts from napa

I would use the same weight that Ford recommends but I wouldn't worry about the friction modifier since you junked the limited slip.
