o yea. to add to the post.

my dad had a f250 v10 and yea it was a little faster off the line then my diesel but it was not fun when he never saw double digits on the MPG (empty!) He was lucky to see 9MPG. with my F350, the lowest I have seen is this past tank at 14.a few MPG. that was all short trips and including an hour idling on the closed freeway and lost of idle time warming up the motor.

Fact, diesel engines are 40% more eficient that a gasser simply because its own high compression. Gassers rely 100% on the gas combustion to turn the cranks. No gas engine will ever replace a diesel when it comes to needing touque. I was soooo friggin amazed at what my 6.0 can do once i put a hot tune on it 3 days ago...its simply amazing...it will effortlessly get sideways and smoke the tires with the looney tune i got from DJ and Vivian. And i mean effortlessly...almost like i'm on snow or ice when in fact its dry concrete or asphalt. So Mod that thing a little and you will be very impressed with the power and still get better fuel milage than a gasser.
Get a DP tunner, cold air intake and open the exhaust (maybe some stax) and you will see an additional 100 hp possibly. Spend a little more money and put a nice tranny in it. You will love it.

Swapping a ford powerstroke for a gasser makes about as much sense as swapping Jennifer Aniston for Rosie O'donnell.

The early 99 had emission tuning in it that will not allow full throttle to be obtained until the rpm's get brought up and feedback from the VSS are calculated. You are hard pressed to get a STOCK early99 to spin the tires. Get the exhaust, intake and dp tunes and you will have a whole new truck. I have had mine since near new and the power off the line was not there until I started modding it.

A freind of mine has an 8.1L chebby. She milkes it for all it is worth to get a whole 14mpg on the highway. Local she complains about 11mpg.

Keep the diesel, it will be your friend for a long time.

Some won talk me out of it, One more ? what is my truck worth Early 99 94,000 miles very clean inside and out. Thanks
If you do the stuff you have in your sig for "future upgrade" you will have a completely diffent truck. The intake, exhaust and a DP tuner chip will cost you under 1200. And it will outpull any gasser on the road.
I guess maybe you will need to do something with the transmission but, I haven't yet.

Not with the new DP tunes. He found a way inside the controls and has tested them with John Wood advising. The are sweet, I run them in my truck. Around town is smooth as silk and in the race tunes it will bark the tires it shifts so hard.
