I need a 2002 non-catalyst VIN
Hi Guys, Im trying to smog my truck and the smog guys are having a problem with some of my exhaust parts. Apparently something is "missing". Anyway, I found a smog guy who asks a lot less questions than the other shops, but I am also "missing" the non-catalyst sticker on the engine and under the hood. I can get them from the dealer, but they want a non-catalyst vin number to make sure those stickers are going on a non-catalyst truck. Hopefully you understand where Im going with this. If any of you have a non-catalyst sticker on a 2002, I'd be most grateful if you lent me your vin number so I can get new stickers. I would really appreciate it.

I can't help you out, but if you're interested, check in with some of the other California guys. Most of us are in the sacramento area, a few a further north in fortuna

It looks from your pic that you have a manual trans. Sticker or not it will not pass a visual inspection by anyone that knows what they are doing. Auto trans 7.3 '991/2 to end of run were CAT exempt, all manual trans had a CAT

You can buy and sell cats. Just look on ebay, get one, gut it and weld it under the truck. That's what I did with my 6.0 I had.

The Republic Communist of Kalifornia does not allow you to buy or sell used cats. And at that, all cats must be CARB certified. However, he doesn't want to buy a cat. Just the sticker that says "non catalyst" that goes under the hood.

![]() I looked into a used cat, but I didnt want to screw the poor bastdard that woke up one morning to find his exhaust parts have been hacked out of his truck, and I am not willing to choke off my 4" pipe with whatever the stock cat diameter is. Kinda defeats the purpose of a 4" system. If you guys know of anyone with a non-cataylst 2002, Im willing to make it worth their effort. $$$ |
