I recently bought a '99 F-350 with the 7.3L. My problem is when I am driving down the highway and get up to 75mph a chime starts to go off. Sounds like the door chime. It looks like the P/O had a chip in the computer but took it out when he sold the truck. I have asked Ford if they know what is causing the chime and all that they can tell me is that it is something after market. When I slow down below 75 the chime quits. Please help me figure out what this is and how to get rid of it. Thanks in advance.

The light doen't come on. Neither does the dome light. The closest explanation I could be given was that the P/O had a Superchip product in there. I was told that there have been problems with Superchip products (along these lines). The guy who gave me this info didn't seem too credible to me but this is the most info I have been given.

i know this is tough going 75, but is there any way to pinpoint where the chime is coming from?? could there be some sort of aftermarket alarm module under your dash or something??

I had a truck in the shop...
about 3 months ago but I can't remember what fixed it. At 75mph exactly. I will check it out tommorow and get back. It was an easy fix but I forgot what I did. Hang tight.

The chime seems to be tied in with my door chime, when either the door chime or the annoying chime at 75mph goes off you can feel the vibration from the chime under the dash just behind the fuse box.

Your going to need a WDS...
That is the tool that we have at the dealer. An IDS will work also. The truck that we had would sound off the chime at exactly 75 and shut off the instant it drops below. What had to be done to it was we went into the personal preferance area. Thats where you can adjust what you want the truck to do when you press key fob buttons and things like that. You can set the chime to go off at a certain speed. Just adjust it or turn it off. We don't know how it happened but it did and this fixed it.
