If it is effecting your speedo and cruise it won't be the front wheel sensors, it will be the one in the rear diff. I think they run about $20-$30.

Opps, my bad.

Next step would be to put a scan tool on it and see if the PCM is registering a reading from the VSS. That way you could elimnate the VSS circuit all together.

we plugged in the snap on scanner and it cant communicate with the abs module. so our guess is that the abs module is bad. if anyone else has any ideas feel free to let me know.

Check fuses first, if they are all good then it's a good bet the ABS mosule is out.

I'm still real green in the powerstroke world but I remember someone stating that there is another VSS on top of the transfercase on 4x4's and on the rear diff??

FYI if the rear ABS module is unplugged, speed still reads on my truck - and it comes from the front ABS sensors....

haha ok here you go guys. all this nonsense with the abs module. i bet non of you would every consider this. the body shop that had the truck painted some piece of metal really damn good. well they painted it so damn good that the wire that is supposed to ground the module couldnt get any connection with the metal. well if there is no ground then there is no complete circuit and that means no power and no communication to the module. problem solved and on the body shop's dime.

I did not know you were getting stuff repainted... I I was the body shop and removed the ground of anything I surely would have kept that as a possibility

Glad you found it... so it was the module... - just that it did not have power or power was "intermittent"
