Bumper Q's

i have a 99 i want to design a winch bumper for my truck similar to the road armors and reinells... it will be a lot cheaper for me to build it cause i work at a fab shop. i can draw it up on cad and cut it out on the water table. i just need the dimentions for the bumper mounts, and all other dimentions if possible. Thank you in advance

I'm gonna go the same route, but I don't have CAD, and my fab shop is my pole barn... I dunno what the dimentions are, I was just gonna pull the bumper off to find out the mounting points, etc. Will be real custom fit... as in built on the truck!
If you wanna share your plans, think you would send me a copy to use for ideas? That would be great... good luck!

the bumpers mount to the same location your stock ones mount... their are 4 bolts on each side that you can you some grade 8 bolts on.... as far as plans on how to make them i doubt any of the big bumper manufactuerers will have them available.... best thing you can do is get some cardboard and tape and start making half of it like that until you get something you like
from their just start cutting your steel and start welding... here is a pic how mine mounts... i know that the ranch hands mount the same way...

Have any buddies that work at autobody shops? I'm sure they'll have a compairable year truck in for repairs to the front end sooner or later... if you could spend an hour or two with a tape measure and note pad, you'd be set, even 20 to 30 minutes would give ya somthing to go on... all you'd need is some quality time with someone else's truck with it's bumper down, er, off... be careful, some one might get jelous...

I may go this route myself... I've done alot of electrical work in the local shop, I know they'd let me check out a truck in for repairs when they had one...

That's really cool that you'd share what you come up with for your truck, it's the best way to come up with great ideas, copy the best parts of other's great ideas! Thanks!

i have a freind that owns one, i sell him and his kids that are in 4-h show hogs all the time... i might be able to get a dented bumper from him when one comes in, i think that the dimentions need to be shared.
