Unhappy recall notice

Ford says it is recalling nearly 1.2 million trucks, SUVs and vans to fix an engine sensor problem that could cause the vehicles to stall and even crash.

The recalled vehicles are 1997-2003 models with 7.3 liter diesel engines, including the Ford E-Series van, Excursion full-size sport utility vehicle, and F-450 Super Duty and F-550 Super Duty trucks.

A Ford spokesman says there have been 14 accidents associated with the problem, but no injuries reported.

Dealers will inspect the sensor and replace it with a new one free of charge. The recall is expected to begin later this month, with notification letters to continue through next year.

I have never owned a vehicle that had a recall on it. Is that something that you can just take to the dealer? How does that work?

They should send letters out, if not or if you are not the original owner...go to fords website and run your VIN. Then contact the dealer, they will probably need to make an appointment.

Does anyone know what sensor it is? Here in the past month, my 99 sometimes wants to stall or die driving down the road. The kicker is that it only does it when it rains. I hope this is what it is.

Anyone know what they are doing to fix this? Just replacing the sensor is what I gather. Is it a different sensor?

When I click on the link, I get a page to print your recall notice.
I'm assuming that you drive the 2000 EX.

I went to Ford's site and it tells me that recall services are not available right now.
