engine roar?

does anyone else's engine have a roar. its almost like the fan is engaged. could it be exhaust leak. its a 2001 srw f350 auto 4x4. compared to my dads its really loud. his is a 2002 2 wheel drive f250. just wondering.

Your fan clutch could be going out/already is out.

thats what i thought at first, but i can spin it when cold, but not freely. it feels like dads truck does when cold.

Are both trucks the same ie: stock exhaust, intake etc?

mine has a afe intake with a k and n filter. his is stock

That's probably what you are hearing. I have an AFE II and it's stupid loud compared to stock.
