K&N Maintance

I have a k&N air intake system. I have had it for a while probably 10,000 miles and it is getting dirty because i leave in the country and drive gravel roads on a daily basis i didnt know how often i had to oil the filter. i have cleaned the filter on my bosses truck before but its not dirty enough on mine to do that yet. but what are some general maintance procedures to follow with the k&n.
