if i remember right the small box with 2 relays in it is the one for the trailer lights and trailer brakes but i'm not 100% sure

There is a separete fuse in the power distribution box under the hood next to master cylinder .If you check owners manual it will tell you which number ,and size of fuse [think 20 amp].Can't believe he can't find it.Maybe he should take it to a professional .

aahhh come on harald, every body has diffrent levels of skill. shoot, my dad can't really do alot with ANY kinda automotive problem. I, on the other hand, have rebuilt a few engines on my own and restored (somewhat) a truck. My dad couldnt do that. thats why we are all here. to help each other out.

There is NO fuse box under the hood next to the master cylinder.. Unless I'm a retard. I did fix the problem however. I had to replace the whole adapter (melted wires)

All of the trailer fuses are under the dash.

Glad ya got it squared away man. Did ya find a short anywhere that would cause the wires to melt???

It was the wiring harness on my gooseneck that caused the short. I took it apart and all the wires were black like it had been arching. Why it did'nt blow a fuse is beyond me. But I traced the wires back through the trailer, and a ground wire for the brakes was worn through. I replaced the harnesses on the truck and trailer, and re-wired the trailer. Everything is working great now.
