4x4 hubs/lockout noise
I have used my 4x4 very little since I bought the truck 3 months ago. My driver side hub when engaged and in 4 wheel drive makes a "thunk" sort of noise. If I just disengage that hub and continue in 4x4 the noise is gone. I would assume it is something in the hub, it is a lot more difficult to spin the lockout than the other side. I have had the diff cover off and the ring&pinion look fine. Anyone experienced this or replaced their hubs/lockouts?
Thanks! Shawn |

I would tear the hub apart. Clean and inspect it. If everything looks good relube it with some grease and reassemble. Alot of times dirt, grime, mud, and other contaniments get inside the hub then the hub gets seized up or is hard to engage and disengage. If the previous owner did alot of off roading, or dirt road driving, or if you live in an area that gets snow and ice and they use salt on the roads. Then this will happen.
