Cheaper Boost Fooler

Every time I get into the throttle and my boost gets over about 25 PSI I get the check engine light on the dash which I'm assuming is just an over boost code and not an ICP problem. My question is would just putting an air pressure regulator in the MAP line, something like below and adjusting the pressure to less than 24 PSI work instead of spending $40 or $50 on a name brand boost fooler?
