True on the smaller stock parts.

An early 99 with bolt ons is a good truck. All they really need performance wise is a chip, intake and exhaust. As far as the HPOP and everything is concerned...do you realize that dual HPOPs, turbo, injectors, intercooler, and what not is going to quickly grow to a $6k+ tab? Not to mention you will need a built transmission...not just a TC. Theres $3-4K. So figure you're going to $10k in parts. When a simple I+E+Chip is $800?

I have an early 99 and love every minute behind the wheel. As you can see in my sig I have some good mods so far, and also have some REALLY GOOD mods to come very shortly (injectors/turbo/tunes). I used to have a late 99 PSD and I didn't like it any more than my early 99 now, some differences but both are GREAT trucks!!

Thumbs up Go for it

I have an early 99 and the power is there. All I have done is straight piped the exhaust, put on the Napa air system and running a Super Chip 1705 tuner. I'm really pleased with the truck. Mine has just over 150K on it. Hope this helps and good luck.
