best intake

right now i have a k&n cold air intake but i know now that the filter is not the best for my engine and could be letting in dirt and dust into it. so here is my question what is the best intake for my 01 7.3 psd. and maybe i dont have to change the hole intake just install a different filter

See if you can find an AFE progaurd 7 filter that fits the K&N intake tube. then you would be fine

The K&N cone filters aren't the problem it was the way the drop in filter wouldn't seal around the edges that have dusted so many diesels. If you want the very best filtering element than go with the Ford AIS system = $200 from powerstrokeshop.com, it will flow about 30% more air over stock and even more if you do the Zoodad mod, if you want the very best airflow than go with the AFE StageII. I didn't want the extra noise you get from a open element filter, so the AIS was the best choice for me. The AIS/Zoodad/BTM combo flows all the air my truck needs.

If you want to save some $$$, just get an AFE filter to fit your K&N -- otherwise, the entire AFE Stage 2 would be the best out there, but also costs a pretty penny!

Something like this would help you:

eBay Motors: aFe Clamp On Filter 4.5" K&N Style Turbo Diesel (item 220171989265 end time Nov-20-07 14:42:04 PST)
