Angry start.......NOW!!! nope.....HELP!!

Just bought a 99 250 with the 7.3.... Its been sitting for quite a while and won't start with out a little diesel starting fluid, (I know its bad for it....) Once it starts it runs rough. I replaced the fuel filter and fluids but cannot get it to start on its own. I checked the glow plug relay and it seems to be working fine.... any ideas??? bad fuel??? glow plugs??? This is my first diesel so any info helps... thanks

Drain the water seperator, add some powerservice to the tank and directly into the fuel bowl. Check and see if the frame mounted fuel pump is on when you turn the key on.

And for god's sake quit spraying starter fluid into it! If the glow plugs are hot and you do that... You will blow the heads thru the hood...

We had one at work years ago that backfired thru the turbo, broke the shaft and bent two valves... OUCH!
