It took me 6 months to find my truck in the configuration I wanted: 2x4 LB CC SRW 6sp. Don't listen to those that don't own a ZF6 behind their 7.3. I wanted the manual because 1) it's fun to drive, 2) you get better mileage than the 4r100 trucks, and 3) I didn't want any transmission problems like I had experience in every Ford automatic that I've owned. I didn't buy it to race on the strip. I bought it to haul, tow and get good economy. As it is, with the mods I've done so far in my sig, I easily get 18 city/19mixed/21 hwy; and no I don't have a lie-o-meter.

Check sites such as Craigs List. They list the unusual stuff. If all else fails you could buy the basic truck (probably a work truck) and upgrade the interior. Or, buy an auto and convert it over. Overall, I think you're trying to find one of the Holy Grailes of unusual SD's. You may have more luck the further South West you go (I've seen lots of sticks with Texas plates on em'). Good Luck.

That's exactly where I had to go to buy mine, in Baytown, Tx. There's plenty of SDs there for sure.

Keep looking. I had a fellow that goes to a lot of car auction and finds tough cars for a living look for 6 months for me. I then took over and did nightly searches on the internet. I found 2 that met my criteria (different than yours but still very specific) both 1500 or so miles away. After a few eMails and phone calls I put a refundable down payment on what I thought would be the better of the two and bought a plain ticket. Been happy so far and when I told the fellow that had been looking for me he said I stole it. Bought it under bluebook even factoring in the plane tickets and driving it home 1500 miles. By the way I found it on the online AutoTrader site.

Probably my favorite truck of all that I found when looking for one was a cab and a half, longbed, burnt orange, black bottom, tan leather with a six speed! to bad it was in texas. I ended up settling with a early 99 Dark metallic blue XL six speed

About 5 weeks ago i picked up a 2000 crew cab short box 6spd 2x4. I wasn't really looking until i saw it. It was 12995 and had 127000 miles. i Went home and got online to do some price research and didn't find a single other six speed in the san diego area. I got it for 13200 out the door. It is awesome. Did the DIY intake, hacked off the muffler and put a turn down. Sounds awesome, gets 20 mixed mpg and occasionally tows 17k trailer with ease.

They're out there, you just have to look. It took me six months to find my XLT Lariat with all the bells and a six-speed. I finally found her, called the owners that had the ad listed on craigslist and they said "nope, it's not for sale anymore". I hounded them a week later and they agreed to sell it. I paid a little too much for it, but an extra grand is well worth the piece of mind that I'll never have a POS automatic leave me on the side of the road EVER AGAIN.

Just the other day I had a buddy of mine ask me "so if you had any amount of money to buy any truck you wanted, what would you get?". I looked at him and said "your riding in it.". And as far as how much effort is it to drive? I bought my 2001 crew cab long box
4WD from the cutest, blondest little 110 pound farm girl in Eastern Washington you could imagine. Garaged every night of its life until I bought it. She could shift it quicker and smoother than I ever hope to.

Shift on....
