Big oil question / HPOP / Oil questions

Still planning my attack plan on the truck and lookin for some funds….

I keep reading forums and some people talk about big oil kits or adding another HPOP.

My plan is to run the tony chip with the race (100ish) and a extreme (140 ish ) but only to show off and will probably end up in the 80 econ setting most of the time and then towing a 10k ish trailer and a 5k ish boat (not at the same time)

At what point is it necessary to mess with the HPOP? Is this something that I need to worry about with the above settings? I DO NOT plan on putting in bigger injectors or a bigger turbo and so on. Probably the only way I would change the turbo is if the stocker blows up.

Also my neighbor (former FORD racer and BIG diesel guy) said that if I loose oil pressure, my engine will be gone before I even have time to react and shut it off. Is this true? Any way to monitor or check the HPOP to make sure its not on its way out?

Thanks guys!

if after the chip you get a cel for icp pressure it wouldnt hurt to go big oil. Tony likes to use oil in his tunes. Even for a stock truck big oil is a great upgrade!

The HEUI injection system requires oil to fire the injectors, if you loose oil pressure, the injectors will shut down first, before you can damage the engine.

Thats good to know! thanks tony!

What kind of extra goodies will a 2k hpop give me with a tony chip? is it worth spending the 2k with stock injectors and a stock turbo?

yeah. I installed mine on stock injectors and turbo and there was a very noticable difference on the top end. before after about 1/2 pedal there was no difference meaning if you pushed more than 1/2 pedal it would not do anything else. after the dual pumps it is a very noticable difference in the whole pedal range.

I cant really help you with your question, but I have seen a stealth oil kit for around 900. You have to buy another pump off of ebay or somewhere, but they include everything to rebuild them to work great.

I would caution you on listening to your neighbor. He obviously does not know the ford system.

DIY stealth kit from Bean or Tony would do awesome. It is $975 and yes, you have to come up with another pump. I can't say enough about big oil, even with stock injectors it made towing enjoyable. Quite a bit of money I understand but it is something to think about.

The big thing is to watch your EGT's and have fun.

Keep Strokin'
