I have a 01 ext cab lb 4x4. 3.73 gears. I can't get more then 13mpg out of it. I have a buddy with excursion same year he can get 18 easy. Is this common? What am I missing? What are you guys averaging?

I average 14
16 is the best I have gotten so far. That was a fair amount of interstate driving. I wish I could get mine up to about 18 |

big ticket items: exhaust, ebpv, chip, tire size, lift, air filter, last time you changed your fuel filter??????? what do you have

New filter with 1000 miles on it. 285/75r16. Straight piped. No chip. Unhooked ebpv. Have aftermarket filter with stock tube.

15 mpg driving to the mountains towing a load, 16 mpg around town. I frequently drive about 2000 rpm and gas it at the lights. I more or less drive it like I stole it. I tried to be gently on it through one tank, but never made it, its just not as fun.
I have an air raid intake, 4" straight pipe (no muffler or cat), upgraded turbo, chip, 8" lift with 37" tires. I would clean/replace your EPB sensor, it got me about 1.5 mpg by replacing it. I would also make sure your air filter is clean, fuel filter is clean, and keep up on your oil. |

I also have a 5.7k resistor an 10k resistor on a toggle switch. Usually keep on 5.7k that seems to not affect mpg but certainly helps response

I have a 2000 F250 w/3.73 gears and 285 75 16 tires and I had terrible mileage(12) and I did a tuner along with ebpv delete and at the same time I rebuilt the turbo, I also have done 4" exhaust and DIY tymar intake. My mileage is now 20.46 highway and 17-18 city. I put a lot of work and money into improving mine but I will re-coop my investment in 2-3 months of driving! I would have never believed it would have been possible to have more power and better mileage but it certainly is.

John,
What did you go with for a programmer? And also did you just do a stock rebuild on turbo or upgrade any parts? If I can get 20 or so outta mine I would be able to sell my commuter car!!! Sent from my iPhone using AutoGuide.com App |
