Also on another note, i dont live in the ghetto of california...i live in iowa, im not terribly afraid of theft because the car thefts here are just mostly dumb teenage kids that see people who leave keys in cars. The chop shop scene is really non existent. Yes i know there will always be pros everywhere but honestly you can leave your doors unlocked and your keys in and your car and you will be fine. but thats why i want to do this just to add that extra step that will probably prevent 99% of the robberies. i figure its better than nothing at all |

I had the great opportunity of living in Sacramento, California
for most of my life and my brother happend to "borrow" cars that didn't belong to him. I learned a lot of useful info on how not to get your car stolen. When a car dont start, the first thing they do is reach under the dash and look for a kill switch. Then next to the seat and center console, ash tray. The 1's that they dont find are usually in plain view. If you use a factory type of switch that was for an option that your trunck didn't come with, like the 4x4 switch or a switch for a power sunroof or even using the power window stich from a 4 door truck on a 2 door. Lots of ways to hide it in the open. The less convienent for you, the less for them. On a side note, a friend of my brothers broke into a car, reached under the seat looking for whatever. Grabbed the handle and was like "yeah, I just found a gun" and pulled it. He became aware of his surroundings as the police showed up that he just found a stun gun. |

Sounds like you guys are describing a cheap alternative to a Ravelco device.
My Ravelco is wired into my starter and fuel systems. Yeah, keeping up with the plug sucks but as long as I keep it with me I know my truck can't be started without many hours of work. We all know theives want the "easy" jobs. All you can do is make it as difficult as possible for them and they will move on to the next target. Don't get me wrong; if a thief really wants something they will figure out a way to get it. Like the old saying goes; locks are meant to keep honest people out. |

but yea exactly if he really wants it he will find the switch but they want a turn key operation(excuse the terible pun ) but im just trying to make that extra step just a little bit harder and he will be more apt to give up and cut his losses
