any remote start will work on a diesel you just add a time delay relay theyre $15 and adj up to 90 seconds and easy install and on 2001 and earlier you dont need the relay you can tap directly to the wait to start light

I have the viper alarm system but its also a remote start from like 500ish ft away i believe. My dad got it installed at a audio shop and it has a time delay, long enough for the WTS light to go away before it cranks. The alarm system is awesome too because besides the alarm going off, the key also starts beeping real loudly and shows where it was disturbed on the vehicle. Like if someone tried to open my door, it would show that or if they tried to pop my bed cover, it would say so. Real helpful if you don't hear your alarm sometimes or live in a unsafe neighborhood.

i have the python system on mine and it works great, i think it was 350 installed plus i had them mount a shock sensor on the rear of my truck as well. my timer delay is 20 seconds i think. (it hasn't hit 32* or below yet here) I haven't had any problems on start up on cold nights/mornings.

If you have the analog air system. just when you shut down the truck set it for the heater or A/C mode, fan speed, temp, etc... and you will get a nice warm or cold truck after a few mins.

The seat warmers...are they on a switch? if so are they able to be used with the truck off? If they only work when the truck is on or idling then just leave them in the "on" mode, and when you remote start they will power up.

as you girls and guy know after long trips and town driving they advise to let the rig idle a few mins to cool down your turbo. for 20 bucks i have turbo cool down feature that will run for about 5 mins and shut it off. its not the same as remote start. with remote start (at least on mine) it will run for any programed time period then if you don't insert the key and turn to ACC it will shut off after the time is expired. so trips to the store or bank, i put the truck in remote start mode, take out the key, walk away arming the truck, come back in 10 or 15 mins and trucks still on and there... Mine is set for 15 mins. the longest i have heard is 60 minutes on the python system.

just thought id put in my two cents.....

I have a polarstart with the diesel interface it waits for your glow plugs so it knows when they have cycled, it also has turbo mode to idle your truck before shutdown to slow cool your turbo and its two-way but i wouldnt recommend this one as the brain has failed the two way remote has failed and shock sensor has failed. Its been fine now since every thing is brand new since april maybe i just got a friday one. My buddy has a compustart on his f-350 thats two yrs old and been perfect

Don't do it yourself

I put one in my OBS 97, took 2 1/2 days to do it right and hide all the wires as if OEM. When I sold the truck I had one put in with an alarm diable system. Worth the price to have them do it , plus you get a warranty with the work. I have mine programed for a 15 second wait to start, and never had a problem with it not starting. Many good ones to chose from, some you can add heater mode or ac mode as well and rool the windows down or up. Good luck on your investment.
