i believe its a single disk

yes, a 4R100 tranny for the 7.3L has one single disk

single disk, I have seen it. The last rebuild I had, John Wood, put the TC on the lathe and cut it open. I had totaly fried the disk from racing and towing hard on it at low RPM.
