Improved Blue CPS for 7.3L Ford Powerstroke Diesel

Anyone know of or had experience with the "improved" cam position sensor. I know its an issue (Ford recall) but I also thought the recall resolved the issue. I had it done on my 03 and have to check to make sure all recalls on my 99 are done.

I replaced a bad black CPS with the International blue one
Horrible idle extremely bad cold starting
Replace the blue with a Ford Gray, better idling and way better cold starts
also swapped from 15W40 to 5W40 oil

That's just the Grey replacement (it's not Blue) Ford swapped everybody to in the recall and the standard replacement they use today.
