2000 F-350 Auto headlights?
Like the title says Ive got a 2000 F-350 and when i turn the key to power everything up the headlights come on. i dont like this. is there a way to unplug something or am i stuck with this?

Never seen a 2k with auto lights

it is the daytime running lights. they are powered through a relay and a resistor to make them more dim than the actual headlights (ie. when you manually turn on the headlights). here is the wiring diagrams with and without drl. for those that have drl, the resistor is in front of the drivers side battery. you can unplug it and it will not effect the headlight operation.

I thought DRL's became available with 2002 trucks? My 2001 does not have them.

My 01 had drl's and all i did was pull a fuse out to disable them but i lost my foglights for abit til i rewired them.

Mine had DRL's. Never knew it until I hit a deer and it made the plug connection tighter or something. Drove me nuts until I figured out I could unplug the connector and viola, no more DRL's. I don't like it because I am ALWAYS driving for work and was going through headlights quicker (I noticed) with the DRL's on all the time. I've probably doubled or more headlight lifespan without them on.
