did 7.3's have a dpf?

i live in southern Illinois and was on my way home from work Friday afternoon and i had seen two cops already and i only work 30 minutes from home. i came to a four way and turned. i kinda got on it not much smoke if any. i seen this cop come hauling @ss up behind me and sure enough he flipped on his lights i had no idea what i did wrong but I'm sure they could find something. he walks up and asks for license etc and before he walks off he asks what the thing was on the dash?

sooo i told him it was a programmer i have an edge cts. he walks back to his car 30 minutes later he walks up and asks if i still have the dpf cat and muffler in it.....no these trucks didn't have anything except a muffler. he argued with me about it and then finally gave me a ticket for excessive acceleration

im just trying to figure out where he got his information from. 7.3's were polluting sobs...mericia

Uhhhh you are 100% correct. If he had any knowledge he would know that the 6.0 that replaced the 7.3 didn't even have DPF so why in the world would a 7.3? That sucks dude good luck fighting that one!

Haha I was just thinking the same thing. Look at gun control in that state and emissions. Next they will want them to buy DPF and EGR kits for IDIs. I love living in AL....no inspections in any county that I am aware of

Excessive acceleration!!!!! With a 7.3L???? That cop was just looking too bust your balls IMHO, I'd see ya in court on that one. Now when I had my 5.0 Mustang I did get pulled over for that, and that's because I was being a smart arsh behind the wheel, but I was given professional courtesy because I was a firefighter/EMT. Plus the sherrif officer had a chevy hot rod wanted too see what I had under the hood, so all was good.

haha i know this state is as bad as California. the whole deal is a joke. as of right now here we dont have to have inspections. i bought a 6.7 and have a spartan in it with deletes egr dpf. im kinda glad i wasnt in it. that guy hasnt seen excessive acceleration. im pretty sure theyll throw out the ticket theres no law that says how fast you get to the speed limit. but anyways just thought id share hoe retarded illinois is. and the thread name i figured that would get everyone lookin
