Help..!!! Turbo Down Pipe Clamp...

Installing a MBPR exhaust kit on my sons 01 7.3.
We have already cut off old exhaust and trying to take off down pipe clamp.
IT IS WELDED ON????
Spot welds about every 2 inches.
Is this nomal?
More important, how do you get it off?
Instructions say take off band clamp and re use.
I have read others installs on site and no mention of this.
Help please....
Thanks in advance.

It's not welded, just really stuck!

You have to use force to get it off, just not so much as to damage it (you'll be reusing it...)

Soak it in something (PB Blaster, some kind of penetrating oil) remove the bolt and see if you can't take your biggest screwdriver and put it into the "split", where the bolt was, and hit the screwdriver to drive the clamp open a bit.

Spray some more, see if you can "catch a lip" with that screwdriver and lift the band, carefully from the side, up a little at a time (don't bend it!).

Spray, soak, drive, lift, it'll come off...

Those spot welds just hold the flat part of the clamp to the v-band part. It's not actually welded to the pipe. Take the bolt completely loose and the take a straight screw driver to get under the v-band and pry a little. It will pop loose but you may have to do that in a few spots.
