Did your truck come with a catalytic converter?

I am trying to get some info. I know the early99 F series came with a cat.

But from what I have read, the late99-03 with an automatic did not have a cat but the manual transmission equipped trucks did.

How about the E series?

Feed back please, I am trying to get some answers.

As you know, my early 99 did (I still have at my storage), my 1996 also did, but my 2000 did not. I bought it new and had the dealership put on an aftermarket 4in exhaust. I keep the old setup just incase I got rid of the truck (and I also spent close to a grand on it..kinda pissed me off at the time.)

Early 99 was the only ones with our body style and a 7.3 that came with a cat from the factory minus a few Cali trucks IIRC...

Martin, This is coppied from another site I posted this on. He is from Ohio. Are you sure it was only Cali after early 99?

A buddy of mine has an early '99 without a cat. I don't know if its original exhaust, but it is just a 3.5" system, it doesn't look like any aftermarket system I've ever seen.

One possibility is the truck he bought was sold in california originally I am going to do some searching as this has come up before. Maybe one of the techs can chime in.

It all depended on what state your truck was sold in. Some states had emissions requirements that stated you had to have one

My 2000 6 spd did not have one, and my 04 did.
