Looking for help: Tag Lights not wired!
So driving down the road and get pulled over for damn tag lights. Lucky my military id got me out of the ticket the policeman said he was going to give me. I went to look under the truck this morning and the wires are not even hooked up to anything, help me out guys! I'm wire diagram retarded, so lets try to keep this strickly simple jack style.
These are the 2 wires from the bulbs the two wires are in the top right-ish corner of the pictures

I'm assuming you looked on the back side of the tag lights to see if there are wires there?
Do you just have the light covers on the bumper? What is that round looking thing (center of pic by the loop of the white wire)? |

K- if the tag light housings have wires, are the cut wires from them or you don't know?
Maybe a strange question, but have you pulled the plugs on the tag lights and checked the bulbs? Could they just be burned out? Maybe the wires are for something else. Kind of hard to tell from the pics. |

Just went to look. The housing for the bulbs has 2 wires that run into it. Which are the 2 wires in the first picture (blue with white/ black with white). The rest of those wires are for the trailer light plug in thingy.
I pulled the bulbs again to make sure I didn't miss something the first time I looked at them and they are good to go. |

I'm assuming you inherited this wiring mess? It's possible the previous owner used the wires for something in the harness.
'nother question. Is the blue/white, black/white coming from the same tag light plug -or- do they come one from each plug? You may have to tap into the taillight wire from one side and run new wires to the tag light plugs. |

Yes I sure did inherit the mess of wiring. This isn't the first wiring problem either...
The both bulb housing have the same wiring that I'm assuming (it's covered with that black plastic covering around the wiring) comes together and is spliced into just these 2 wires. |

Wow... That sure is a mess. It looks like the previous owned used a 4 pin wire harness that taps into the brake lights, then tried to add his own 6/7 pin wiring...?
I think your best bet would be to remove all of that, and start fresh. Order this, it plugs up to the big gray plug in the pic. I have the same harness and plug on my truck and it works great. Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring for Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty 2000 - 118243 |

I agree however, i need this fixed by Saturday, driving 19 hour on Sat. The previous owner said something about wiring it into the trailer harness and using the parking lamps since its a 'hot' wire? Would that work?
