New 7.3... Got Questions

Hey guys, Just bought a 99' 7.3 with 112k on it. It has single shot injectors a dp 6 pos. tuner and a K&N intake. 8" bds on 20's wrapped with 38's. This thing is huge and purtty. I love it. O and did i mention its got an 06' front end with 08 mirrors... ya be jealous haha

So couple questions, I'm looking at getting a quad a pillar mount and mounting pyro, eot, ect, and maybe boost? What do you guys think I should run?

The truck also has an Edge CS so we've got EGT's and boost covered.

Now next questions... I am about to drive this thing from Oklahoma to Virginia next week. I have heard plenty of horror stories about K&N filters. I have the stock filter as well. Would you guys throw the OEM back on or keep the K&N?

Anything specific I should be checking out with the stage one single shot injectors?

Welcome to the org! First thing to accomplish: Scrap the K&N filter. Get whatever you prefer through your research but most run a 6637 from NAPA. You can run the 6637 in place of you K&N filter using the K&N plumbing. Is your truck an early or late '99?

the door tag says Dec. 98. So I'm assuming its an early. However I would need to check tomorrow, to verify

So would you suggest scrapping that K&N for the Stock one until i can get another one when I get back to VA?

Looking through some of threads i'm seeing that i could just slip the 6637 on the K&N tube... this correct?

I started it in reference to the foil delete and it evolved into the intake hybrid. Seems for your situation if you already have the K&N system, the easiest/inexpensive route is the same setup.

Thanks a ton! Appreciate your help. Any suggestions for gauges or monitoring for anything? I just went out to the truck and set the Edge CT to monitor EOT, EGT, Trans Temp, and Boost.

Anything else I should look out for? Tranny's nice and strong, dove it 2 hours today and everything seems great.

You may also want to monitor fuel pressure. That is another vital part to the performance of these engines.
