Cooling problem wtf??

I got a dilemma, just put another motor in my truck out of an 2002 and I changed the oilpan etc etc and long story short I put coolant in the truck and I can't get the temp to rise at all in wont budge, I hooked the wires up to see if wiring .. And it test good gauge works fine and sensor is good, what I don't understand is that I have no pressure in the top or bottom hose.... And I filled coolant all the way up!! I let it run for half and hour hopping maybe there was air in the system but I'm getting no reading on the gauge and the engine seem hott obviously cause its not getting coolant. I noticed the water pump from 200 7.3 an 2002 7.3 is a bit different but not by much. Anyways am I doing something wrong here?

I believe the pumps are the same. Just that pre 2002 they used the pipe for the lower hose but that just bolts on. What sensor are you using? I am not sure how u tested it, but I had to buy one at the dealer cause the one from the autoparts store didn't read hot when the motor was warm and normal with the sensor in my hand. After researching, it seems to be an issue with the autoparts sensors to read hot or nothing at all. Then again I don't even know if you are running an OEM sensor.

I tried a few sensors and I have 2 of these trucks and I took the sensor from my other one. And yes it's a oem.

How many gallons did you put in? I think it should hold 8. You may have to drive down the road and back to get all the air out.

start it up. go a short distance(romp on it a time or two) and then cut it off. this is how i do it in my buggy motors. normal idle will not work air pockets out.

Figured out the stupid problem it seem to be not reading temp cause the the truck didnt like the temp sensor, I pegged the 2 wires together and my gauge worked fine so obv the sender was bad?? I went ordered new one and I put it in and no luck still no reading I went through 100$ worth of temp sensors and none worked. Stupid problem I hate driving without Temp gauge. So I went to Walmart got the cheapest temp gauge with sender and believe it or not I used the sender an it threaded right in the hole and connected the white and red wire to it from the temp gauge and what do you know my gauge works wtf is that about? I don't think 2002 7.3 liked the stock sender anyone else have temp sensor problems on their 02s like this? Cause if u put a new sender in and ur gauge is fine then u have to go to wallmart lol
