I had a whine like a police siren that would happen when I would run the rpm up. The exhaust fins in the turbo were melted and the bearings had wore out. You can see the pics of it if you click on my truck in my sig. It was not good.

Good luck, I hope it is a loose boot.

check for shaft play... mine made howling noises and had almost 1/2" of linear play which means it didn't move side to side but moved in and out. I just replaced with another stock turbo for now.

I have a video that I'll post for you hang on...

Take a look at this discussion about this turbo: Ball Buster Turbo - Powerstroke Nation

I asked this question a few weeks ago for another member on here. It seems that this turbo is no better than a modified stock turbo and maybe worse. The TN BB or GT38R would be a better turbo. Both are on sale right now at black widow diesel for $1750. Maybe just rebuild your turbo and upgrade it at the same time. $400 for ATS housing, $300 exhaust housing, $100 or the turbo outlet.

Many things to consider,

Keep Strokin'

ok i tighted up all the bolts none were super loose. checked the oil 1/2 qt low but almost time for a change anyways. and the noise is still here. And it is only noticable from 12psi on. still able to hit 25psi to. checked the turbo shaft and no play in it, and no signs of ware on the fins or housing. And ideas. thanks
