Stinkin Fuel Filters

ha....I'm not sure if this has ever been discussed before, but I have noticed this for every fuel filter I have installed - 5 of them now. Every single one of them (Racor style) have stunk. I feel like they smell like something the mice have gotten into-just plain old stinky. I had this most recent one out sitting on the toolbox for a week or so to let the o-rings relax from the packaging and every time I would get a tool out of the tool box I could smell it. It's not an issue to me, just thought it's kind of interesting. What do you think?
